What documents are required for a bike loan?

📅3 June 2026
🕒6 min read

Quick summary

  • KYC: Aadhaar + PAN (mandatory)
  • Address proof: Utility bill, rent agreement, or passport
  • Income proof (salaried): Last 3 months salary slip + 3 months bank statement
  • Income proof (self-employed): 6–12 months bank statement + business proof
  • Bike documents: Dealer invoice/quotation; RC (post-purchase)
  • Photographs: Recent passport-size
  • Most documents accepted digitally via upload

Master checklist by employment type

For salaried applicants

  1. Aadhaar card (front + back)
  2. PAN card
  3. Last 3 months' salary slips
  4. Last 3 months' bank statement (where salary is credited)
  5. Employer's offer letter (if recently joined / less than 1 year)
  6. Address proof — Utility bill (electricity, gas, broadband) or rent agreement
  7. Passport-size photograph
  8. Dealer invoice / quotation for the bike

For self-employed / business owners

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. PAN card
  3. Business proof — GST registration, shop & establishment certificate, partnership deed, or trade licence
  4. Last 6–12 months' bank statement (business + personal)
  5. ITR for last 2 years (preferred but not always mandatory — see bike loan without ITR)
  6. GST returns (if registered) — last 6–12 months
  7. Address proof
  8. Passport-size photograph
  9. Dealer invoice / quotation

For first-time buyers / NTC applicants

Same as salaried or self-employed list, plus:

  1. Employer letter (for new joiners)
  2. Co-applicant's documents (if applying jointly)
  3. Education certificate (some lenders, for recent graduates)

Document tips that speed up approval

  • Match details exactly across all documents. Name spellings, date of birth, and address should be identical on Aadhaar, PAN, and bank statements. Mismatches are the #1 cause of delay.
  • Upload clear, high-resolution scans or photos. Blurry uploads trigger re-requests and add 24+ hours.
  • Keep your address updated on Aadhaar and PAN. If you've moved recently, update before applying.
  • Bank statement format matters. PDF directly downloaded from your bank's portal is the cleanest. Avoid scanned printouts where possible.
  • Active mobile linked to Aadhaar. Required for e-KYC OTP. If your mobile is unlinked, the application can stall.
  • Get the dealer invoice early. Some lenders need the dealer invoice or pro-forma before issuing the final sanction.

Lender-specific notes

  • TVS Credit — Comfortable with semi-urban applicants; flexible on minor documentation gaps for TVS bikes
  • Bajaj Auto Finance — Strict on KYC match across documents; quick processing once documents are clean
  • IDFC First Bank — Strong digital KYC flow; entirely paperless for salaried customers
  • HDBFS — Considers alternative documents for self-employed; field verification may be requested
  • AU Small Finance Bank — Flexible documentation in their core geographies; willing to accept supporting income documents in lieu of standard income proof

Digital vs physical documentation

Most lenders accept digital uploads through Rupyy. Physical documents are rarely required except in:
  • High ticket size loans (₹2 lakh+)
  • Cases requiring field verification
  • Specific geographies with limited digital infrastructure
You can typically complete the full application — eligibility check, document upload, e-KYC, e-signing — without printing a single page.

Post-disbursal documents

After the loan is disbursed and the bike is delivered, you'll need:
  • RC (Registration Certificate) with hypothecation endorsed to the lender
  • Insurance certificate — comprehensive insurance covering the loan tenure
  • Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate
The dealer typically handles these; your job is to keep copies for your records.

What to do if a document is missing

  • Lost Aadhaar? Download e-Aadhaar from uidai.gov.in
  • Lost PAN? Request reprint via NSDL or download e-PAN
  • Bank statement issue? Most banks let you download statements for the last 12 months from app or net banking
  • No business proof? GST registration is fastest if eligible; trade licence from the local municipal body otherwise
  • No address proof? Utility bills in your name, rent agreement, or recent bank statement with address printed all qualify
